Ohanaeze President General Wins 2018 Bridge Builder Award

The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Barr Nnia Nwodo has won an Award as the Bridge builder of the year .

The Award  which was instituted by the Daily Independent newspaper would be officially conferred on Barr Nwodo on 17th of January, 2019  in Lagos.

The newspaper noted that Barr Nwodo has championed the cause of inter-ethnic unity and understanding which made Nigeria not to have broken in the face of several centrifugal and threatening forces to her existence.

Also, the Spokesman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Chuks Ibegbu won the Publicity man of the year 2018 Award .

Usman Baba, the director of programmes of the Centre for public Awareness and free speech in Abuja announced this recently and noted the Award would be officially given to Ibegbu later in January.

The runner up was Yinka Odumakin, the Afenifere spokesman while the third position went to Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information.

Joshua, Jaja , an Abuja based media guru won the fourth position.

Meanwhile, several Igbo and Nigeria groups have lauded the award to Barr Nwodo and Chuks Ibegbu noting that they deserved it. Among the groups included Nigeria Unity Forum, Coalition of Civil Society Organisations of Nigeria, Igbo bu Igbo foundation , Igbo Media forum and others.

In another development, the entire leadership of the South East PDP EXCO on Wednesday 9th January, 2019 paid a courtesy call on Barr Nnia Nwodo , the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

The delegation which was led by the South East National Vice President Chief Ben Umahi praised Barr Nwodo and the NEC of Ohanaeze Ndigbo for its spectacular achievements for Ndigbo since its inception.

He noted that Ndigbo are lucky to have the present Ohanaeze leadership and called for support by all Igbos to them.

Chief Umahi informed Bar Nwodo that even though Ohanaeze   is not a political outfit, every man and woman is a political animal .He therefore solicited Ohanaeze support in the oncoming elections.

In his reaction Barr Nwodo noted that  Igbo sons and daughters belong to different parties and they need to advance Igbo interest in their parties.

He welcomed the delegation and urged them to go and convince Ndigbo why their candidates should be voted for. He warned against politics of violence or rancour and wished them a fruitful outing in the 2019 elections.

He stated that Ohanaeze Ndigbo highest organ  would soon meet to x ray the political trajectory of Ndigbo in 2019 .

Among some NEC members that welcomed the delegation included Chuks Ibegbu , the spokesman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the Enugu state President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Okosisi of Ugbo  Chief Alex Ogbonnia, Prof Eze, the Enugu state Deputy President  and other Ohanaeze Chieftains.
