Ex-Nigerian boxer, Jerry Okorodudu, is in dire need of assistance after suffering from a partial stroke recently, The PUNCH reports.

The former national boxing coach, who competed in the men’s middleweight event at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, told our correspondent that he had been living with the ailment for over two months.

The 1979 National Sports Festival gold medalist had surgery last year and was stuck at the hospital after he couldn’t foot his medical bills, before the intervention of the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, and ex-boxers, who came to his aid financially.

In a chat with our correspondent, Okorodudu, confirmed his ailment, stating that he was financially incapable of treating himself.

“I have been sick for over a month as we speak and I need urgent financial help to be able to get the best treatment. I had a partial stroke, which has affected my right hand and leg, even up to my neck,” Okorodudu told The PUNCH.

“I can’t walk, so, I have not been doing anything for over one month. I’m also finding it difficult to talk well.”

Okorodudu said due to a lack of funds he had been unable to seek medical help, and had to resort to traditional treatment.
