Onitsha Fire Disaster: Anambra Is In Total Ruins! Citizens React [Shocking Revelations]
Over four years ago, this medium, ElombahNews raised alarm over the rate of decay witnessed in the state after former Governor Peter Obi handed over the rudder to his successor, Willie Maduabuchukwu Obiano.
Events in the last few years have, not only proven the alarm correct but, painted a grim picture of the sorry state of the State under the present leadership.
Hence, in collaboration with our correspondent, Odumodu Gbulagu, ElombahNews began the series “Anambra Is In Ruins!” exactly one month ago, September 17.
ElombahNews Begins “Anambra Is In Ruins!” Series

Anambra State Governor Obiano in various states of stupor, a regular feature
The series was designed to create more awareness on the poor policies and governance style of the Obiano administration and the need to hold it accountable.
Yesterday, October 16, was another eye opener to Anambra citizens when fire from a tanker claimed two lives, razed houses and shops and rendered many homeless and hopeless.
Ironically, three hours into the fire, the Anambra State fire service was nowhere to be found until Delta State fire service came to the rescue.
Below is the reaction of Anambrarians over the fire incident on Facebook:
Odumodu Gbulagu
Do you remember this post?
I made it barely one week ago and as always Governor Willie Obiano’s e-rats descended on me with all forms of invectives and missiles.
Failure of Anambra state fire service to put off a raging inferno that was on for almost six hours, and the Delta state fire service crossing the bridge and coming all the way from Asaba to tackle the fire disaster has vindicated me.
How can a responsible and responsive government comfortably watch the properties of its citizens go up in flames without even an effort to salvage the situation?
The truth is that Willie Obiano has plunged Anambra state into deep rot that will take decades to clear.
With the anger in Anambra today, I don’t see Governor Willie Obiano escaping mass beating soonest.
May the souls of the victims of the Onitsha inferno Rest In Peace.
See copied below the post by Odumodu Gbulagu on October 7:
Obiano: What happened to the fire office land at Okpoko?
Since Chief Willie Obiano became Governor, he has been using different fronts to take the land of the state, the prominent front being the owner of a filling station at Awka. The time of reckoning shall come.
As we speak, Obiano has, as usual, taken the vast land belonging to Anambra State Fire Service at Okpoko, leaving the service with just a fraction of the old land that no longer has parking space for their fire equipment.
Obiano must return our land in due time.

Thank you Delta State Fire Service for coming to the aid of ndi Anambra yesterday
Let not play politics with yesterday fire incident but the fact still remains that Anambra State is in a mess
A state like Anambra have no active fire service station. Ndi Anambra, where did we get it all wrong??
Look out how fire destroyed lives and properties worth millions of tax payers yesterday and no fire service on ground for over five hours beginning from when the incident occurred
Anyi na agbago agbago ka anyi na agbada agbada?
Are we going forward or backward?
This Willie Obiano led government they see us like mumu
Ndi Anambra,
We need a governor that will rewrite the wrongs of this administration

Obiano’s boots can buy one fire fighting vehicles!
Have your seen him lately? He dresses in a manner unbecoming of an elder and a Governor. Shamelessly, he wears childishly designers’ outfits. Have you noticed that for APGA functions, he wears specially APGA designed shoes? For Independence celebration, he wears special designed shoes reflecting Nigerian colours. Over 2000 different shoes must have been designed for him. Within him, he will be thinking that it would be a delight for Nigerians to see a fashion-conscious Governor when in actual facts, he is being childish.
The confounding fact is that those shoes he wears are specially designed for him by Louis Vuitton.
When you see the boots he wore during handover of security vehicles to security agents, you may be tempted to dismiss them for blue-coloured rain boots, No, they are much higher than what you think.
Analysing his shoes:
It has shock-absorbing foam
Multi-durometer rubber outsoles for stability
Split grain leather overlays
Swin fin heel catches
Blood-borne pathogen resistant membrane
Underneath ortholite foam
Core-tex inner sleeves
He can wear those boots even in hottest weather without feeling heat. He can wear it for days even while sleeping without feeling discomfort.
Designed specifically for Gov. Willie Obiano by Stuart Weitzman, the boots cost $27,000 (Twenty-Seven Thousand Dollars) which is enough to buy one fire-fighting truck.
Stories about our Governor sounds unbelievable, but they are true.
When we were shouting about the cost of his champagnes, did you not doubt until lately?
Anambra is in ruins!

The only fire response team that finally arrived, came all the way from Asaba. Onitsha fire service was no where to be seen.
May God punish all those praising Obiano on social media. Disaster is better than Obiano.
I join Odumodu Gbulagu to say that Anambra is in ruins.
Don’t just save Anambra from Obiano, save her too from APGA. Enough of fooling the people with Odumegwu Ojukwu’s picture.

Just take one look at this young man, one of the victims of Onitsha fire disaster and you immediately know what Anambra is like under Willie Obiano!

Am greatly perplexed, on the level of nonchalance from the government to the people..
Am disturbed,..
The fire outbreak in Onitsha today for 3 hours without been mitigated was a great eye opener to the frivolity the recklessness and the jamboree dance of the Anambra state government towards protecting lives and property..
This indeed #Anambracrys.

The Pain is avoidable but “Willie is Walking” Slogan only exist on Media.
Onitsha Fire Service is Dead.
Okpoko Fire Service is not Functioning
Awada Fire Service Doesn’t exist anymore.
Their Emergency Numbers are always on Call Divert.
Even Delta State Fire service couldn’t make their way, as a result of Bad Roads throughout the State.

ONITSHA: All businesses should Stop paying any tax, levy or revenue to the Anambra state government until Willie OBIANO resigns or is impeached
Fred Maduekwe
Since last night, I have been searching to see in the news temporal drastic measures taken by my state government with regards to the fire incident in Onitsha yesterday, which has become an unfortunate ritual in Upper Iweka from time to time. Setting up panel of inquiry is not enough
1. To those who are close to Governor Willie Obiano who might be reading this, tell him as a matter of urgent to use his executive powers to suspend movement of heavy duty trucks and tankers in, within and out of the state between the hours of 6am to 7pm.
2. The management team of Anambra state fire service should be suspended immediately while waiting for the final submission of the panel he constituted. More so, he should chop for replacement of the present management with new hands who has never been part of the fire agency in the state.
3. Part of the new measures to be adopted in every major market in Onitsha and other parts of Anambra should have a fire service station who will also have responsibility of conducting fire fighting skills for the market union members periodically. Afa m bu Fred Maduekwe.
I pray God console all those who lost their loved ones and means of livelihood in the fire incident. Amen.
Praise Ukachukwu
This is fire that started around 1 pm but till now no intervention by the government agencies and the fire is streaming to contiguous streets – Zik Avenue.
Shame on the gangster governor called Obiano, even nature is widening his ‘nyash’ for the world to see.
Please Obiano should apologize to Onitsha residents over this unfortunate incident – that’s if he is sober presently – and a support plan should be immediately rolled out to those whose lives work have been wiped out by this regrettable situation.
We have been lamenting on the gross rot taking over the state but his e-rats have taken over the social media to ‘unsuccessfully’ defend him .
A whole city like Onitsha has no functional fire control station and only one rescue tank from Asaba Delta State.
Look at how a manageable situation has grown monstrous and is still eating out peoples source of livelihood.

Peter OBi provides all these during his tenure. Obiano should tell us where they kept all these equipment.

This is a street in Onitsha that can not easily be plied by pedestrians how much more vehicles

This is Governor Obiano patching tarred roads with concrete as if tar anc cements mixes easily
