As Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections, concerns are growing over alleged fear tactics aimed at discouraging opposition participation.

According to Diaspora digital media (DDM) a political observer has accused the ruling elite of attempting to create an atmosphere of intimidation to weaken electoral competition.

According to the observer, certain political forces want Nigerians to believe they are invincible and have captured every institution of power.

These forces allegedly aim to create an illusion of dominance, making the public believe that challenging them is futile.

Their strategy revolves around instilling fear, discouraging opposition, and fostering the belief that the 2027 election is already decided.

They allegedly want citizens to lose faith in the electoral process, believing that voting is a waste of time and resources.

However, despite their public show of strength, these forces are said to harbor deep fears of the ordinary citizens.

The observer described them as cowards who resort to intimidation because they fear the collective power of the people.

It was noted that these individuals do not fear God or any authority but fear a united and active electorate.

This fear allegedly drives their aggressive attempts to silence opposition voices and suppress dissenting opinions.

Political climate and opposition challenges

Nigeria’s political history has shown that dominant parties often use intimidation and propaganda to weaken opposition movements.

Recent events suggest that similar tactics are being deployed ahead of the 2027 elections, raising concerns about democratic fairness.

Observers argue that the consistent targeting of opposition figures, particularly Labour Party’s Peter Obi, reveals this fear-based strategy.

Obi and his supporters have reportedly faced intense scrutiny, intimidation, and attacks from political opponents.

The observer described these actions as desperate attempts to prevent the rise of a credible alternative to the ruling party.

This tactic, they argued, has been a recurring theme in Nigerian politics, designed to deter challenges to entrenched power.

Historical evidence suggests that even the strongest political figures can be unseated through determined opposition.

Although difficult, political change is always possible when strategic efforts are made to counter fear-based suppression.

The observer emphasized the importance of remaining hopeful and working towards a credible alternative in 2027.

Protecting electoral victory in 2027

Peter Obi, they noted, does not have a problem winning elections but faces the challenge of protecting his victory.

One of the major obstacles to opposition success is the structure of Nigeria’s political party system.

The observer lamented the absence of independent candidacy, which could have provided a more level playing field.

Regardless of the party Obi chooses to contest under, the focus should be on safeguarding his electoral mandate.

The observer expressed confidence in Obi’s political wisdom, urging him to develop strong measures to protect his victory.

They cautioned against discussing such strategies publicly but encouraged Obi to prepare extensively for post-election challenges.

Citizen participation and the road to 2027

For Nigerians who feel discouraged from participating in the 2027 elections, the observer issued a strong warning.

Abandoning the electoral process, they argued, plays directly into the hands of those seeking to maintain control.

By choosing not to vote, citizens would be fulfilling the ruling party’s plans to weaken opposition momentum.

The observer cited an African proverb stating that one cannot declare something impossible without first attempting it.

Defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027 will be extremely difficult but remains possible.

Achieving this goal, however, will require a radically different political approach and well-coordinated efforts.

The observer called on all Nigerians committed to change to reject fear and actively participate in the electoral process.

They urged opposition supporters, especially the Obidient movement, to stay resilient and not succumb to discouragement.

In conclusion, they reaffirmed the belief that Nigeria’s democracy can be strengthened through active civic engagement.

They extended blessings to all Nigerians and called for collective efforts to secure a better political future.
