Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has inaugurated two major infrastructure projects in Bayelsa State, commending the state government for what he described as impactful development efforts.

The projects include the Agbura–Oxbow Lake Road and the Oporoma Referral Hospital, both aimed at improving connectivity and healthcare delivery in the state.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremonies, Osinbajo praised Governor Douye Diri for prioritizing projects that directly affect the lives of ordinary citizens.

He noted that infrastructure development remains a critical driver of economic growth and social wellbeing, particularly in riverine communities where access has historically been a challenge.

The Agbura–Oxbow Lake Road is expected to enhance transportation within the region, opening up communities for economic activities and easing movement for residents.

Similarly, the newly completed Oporoma Referral Hospital is designed to strengthen the healthcare system by providing advanced medical services to people in the area and surrounding communities.

Osinbajo emphasized that improved healthcare facilities are essential for reducing mortality rates and ensuring that citizens receive timely and quality medical attention.

Governor Diri, in his remarks, said the projects reflect his administration’s commitment to inclusive development and improving the standard of living for Bayelsa residents.

He explained that the road project would reduce travel time and boost local commerce, while the hospital would serve as a major medical hub in the state.

The governor also reiterated his government’s focus on delivering people-oriented projects despite economic challenges.

Community members and stakeholders who attended the event expressed appreciation for the initiatives, describing them as long-awaited developments.

They noted that the road and hospital would significantly improve daily life, particularly in areas that have suffered from poor infrastructure for years.

The event marks another milestone in Bayelsa’s infrastructure drive, as authorities continue to pursue projects aimed at bridging development gaps across the state.

Observers believe sustained investment in key sectors will be crucial in addressing long-standing challenges and promoting balanced growth in the Niger Delta region.
