Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has demanded for the establishment of state and community polie to end the security problem in the country.
Osinbajo made this known while speaking at the security summit organized by Senate ad-hoc committee on insecurity in Nigeria.
According to him, Police structure must change by tripling the number of officers;
There should be state and community policing by curtailing the arms being smuggled into the country; andThere should be consolidation with neighboring state within borders.
He said, “Every Nigerian deserves the protection of their lives I give kudos to the security agencies that despite the constraint in finances they’ve been able to work with the resources they have. We need to consider the following for the efficiency in the security sector:
Osinbajo added ,“We must avoid the danger of allowing this conflict to escalate further to religious or ethnic conflict, this is the responsibilty of political and religious elites in Nigeria.”
