Osun State, Nigeria – The Osun State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, confirmed the tragic death of Officer Lamidi Abiodun.

Suspected armed hoodlums ambushed him in Iwo, within the Iwo Local Government Area, and subsequently killed him.

The attack happened suddenly; the hoodlums approached quickly and struck before anyone could intervene effectively.

Despite efforts to provide aid afterward, it was evident that he succumbed to his injuries sustained during the ambush.

As a result, the local community is now calling for increased security measures aimed at preventing similar violence in the future.

The Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Idowu Abass, issued a statement on Thursday providing details of the attack and its aftermath.

Significantly, the attack injured a Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) member, Alex Sola, who received a gunshot wound to his leg.

Additionally, Nurudeen Alowonle, another VGN member, has gone missing since the recent ambush, heightening concerns about ongoing security threats.

This disappearance has raised concerns among members and the community, emphasizing the ongoing danger they face.

Authorities continue investigating the incident, hoping to locate Nurudeen and uncover those responsible for his abduction.

This confrontation unfolded on Wednesday after local farmers in the Papa Farm area alerted authorities.

They reported an ongoing attack on their farmland to the Iwo Area Command of the Amotekun Corps.

Consequently, a team of Amotekun operatives, accompanied by VGN members, mobilized to the scene to address the threat and protect lives.

Upon their arrival, the team faced an ambush by armed individuals allegedly led by the notorious criminal Akeem Olofa.
