A suicide bomber reportedly blew himself up among crowds of members of the Islamic movement under the leadership of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky who were on this year’s Arba’een symbolic trek from Kano to Hussainiyyah Baqiyyatullah, Zaria, Kaduna State.

According to the Media Team Leader of the 2015 Arba’een symbolic trek Ibrahim Usman, the incident occurred at Dakasoye village area of Garun Mallam local goverment Kano state on Friday, November 27 around 2:30pm.

He explained that over 20 people were reported dead while others have sustained various degrees of injuries.

Ibrahim Usman explained that the ugly incident occurred shortly after a middle aged man was caught with Improvised Explosive Device.

Ibrahim Usman said Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria under the leadership of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky were on this year’s Arba’een symbolic trek from Kano about 170km to Hussainiyyah Baqiyyatullah, Zaria, Kaduna State to commemorate the 40th day of Ashura, as a mark of mourning for the killing of Imam Husain, grandson of the Prophet of Islam by the army of Yazid, son of Mu’awiyyah in 61 AH.

He said the trekkers will finally converge at Hussainiyyah Baqiyyatullah in Zaria on December 3 for the grand Arba’een lecture by the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky.

That coincided with the world’s most populous gathering at the tomb of Imam Husain (AS) in Karbala, Iraq in which over 40 million pilgrims participated last year.

Meanwhile, the Kano state Amir of the Islamic movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Muhammad Mahmud Turi has ordered the continuation of the procession, saying that no amount of threat would deter them.

It could be recalled that in July of 2014, the Islamic Movement in Nigeria under the leadership of Sheikh Zakzaky were targeted by the Israel Intelligent Agents (MOSSAD) and its American Counterpart (CIA) under the guidance of the then President Goodluck Jonathan government as 33 members including three sons of the Sheikh Zakzaky were shot dead by soldiers during a QUDUS DAY peaceful procession.

The Islamic Movement is a group known for their peace motives including recently protecting Churches in Nigeria.
