The Supreme Court has adjourned to March 24, 2023, for judgment after its hearing on Monday, February 20, in the matter involving the leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The apex court had sat for a review of its judgement delivered on October 14, 2021 in line with the amendment it made on the case on May 9, 2022, which was confirmed by Justice Mary Odili in her later dated November 7, 2022.
In the amendment, Chief Victor Oye’s name was expunged from the judgement and replaced with that of Chief Edozie Njoku as the authentic National Chairman of APGA.
It could be recalled that the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court had directed Chief Njoku, being the wrongly suspended APGA National Chairman, to file an application in line with order 8, rule 16 notifying the court of the error.
Njoku, in compliance with the letter from the Chief Registrar dated January 19, 2023, approached the court for a review.
Consequently, the Supreme court sat today and heard the motion.
The Justices expressed anger that Oye wrote a petition to the police and dragged the Supreme Court to the FCT High Court in Abuja despite the fact that Justice Mary Odili had clarified in a letter the controversy surrounding the judgement.
The Justices queried the counsel to Oye, Chief Onyechi Ikpeazu SAN, why he allowed the apex court to be dragged to a lower court.
Chief Ikpeazu immediately claimed lack of awareness over the petition from Oye to the police that led to the drama at the court where the letter from Justice Mary Odili was tagged to be fake and forged.
The court, thereafter, adjourned to March 24, 2023, to deliver ruling after Oye filed fresh motions and came to the court with documents to tactically delay judgment.
