Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, a frontrunner in the 2021 race for Anambra governorship under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has won the Focus Africa Award for Service.

Mr. Ozigbo, who declared Nigeria as the hope for Africa’s future, submitted a feasible roadmap for “the actualisation of an Africa that helps youths reach their full potentials and by so doing, takes her rightful place in the world”.

Ozigbo, a respected Nigerian business leader and philanthropist, offered his ideas on the liberation of the Black race on Thursday, March 26, 2021, when he received the Focus Africa Award for Service.

While speaking at the event held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja, Ozigbo maintained that the key to rewriting the story of the Black race is in Nigeria.

“Nigeria is uniquely positioned as the most populous black nation. Nigeria has the highest number of black people living outside Africa.

“If we can set Nigeria on the right path of development, it would have a significant rippling effect on Africa,” Ozigbo remarked.

“This is why I am offering to play a larger role in actualising the liberation of the black race by serving as governor of Anambra State,” he said.

“I am bringing a revolutionary approach to governance that would see Anambra take the lead in terms of commerce, industrial development, agricultural production and processing, technology, education, health, infrastructure, and tourism.

“We must consciously create an enabling environment that would empower our youth to unlock their unlimited potential.

“This can only be achieved when we have courageous, ambitious, and competent leadership.

“This is the kind of leadership I am offering my people in Anambra State.

“While we celebrate the small successes we have recorded despite unfavourable conditions, we must take bold steps towards transforming Africa to the place we dream it to be.

“If elected by my people to serve, I am poised to orchestrate far-reaching changes that would be a catalyst for our people to demand the entrenchment or competent leadership across the board.”

Ozigbo, the founder of one of the leading non-governmental organisations in Nigeria, Valentine Chineto Ozigbo (VCO) Foundation, thanked the organisers for recognising his contributions to a better society that the award would only spur him towards more excellent service to humanity.

The event attracted several dignitaries from all walks of life, including Dino Melaye, a popular politician, activist, and a former senator.
