Pakistan Prime Minister swears to beat India
Prime Minister swears by his name.

Pakistan’s prime minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday, February 23, 2025, swore by his name to beat India.
Sharif, during a public rally said his name will cease to exist, if Pakistan does not beat India in terms of economy and development.
Sharif has been known by many, to get carried away and sometimes extremely animated at public rallies.
Reports have it that whenever he made speeches at rallies, he found himself making unguarded statements.
At the rally, Sharif was seen flinging his fist and arms in the air, occasionally jumping at the podium, beating his chest, and hitting the podium.
Sharif’s visit to Dera Ghazi Khan, was to reaffirm his government’s commitment to address the economic and social concerns that the citizens had highlighted.
He reportedly announced some essential infrastructure projects in the region.
The citizens of Pakistan have been facing a severe financial and economic challenge for several years, and the Country has been under a massive international debt burden.
The government is therefore putting up austere measures in order to repay the debt.
But in what turned out to be a twist or an adrenalin rush during his address, Sharif began swearing by his name, to beat India in the area of economy and development.
In his words, “My name won’t be Shehbaz Sharif if due to our efforts Pakistan does not leave India behind in terms of development and progress.”
He also swore on his elder brother and former prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif’s life, to better the fortunes of Pakistan.
His comments which were widely shared on social media, were greeted with widespread criticism.
Many Pakistans accused him of always making floating promises.
Several users on X even mocked the Pakistani prime minister.
Less than two weeks before his promise on Sunday’s rally, Mr Sharif had called for a resumption of dialogue with New Delhi.
India, through her ministry of external affairs, had stated repeatedly that for talks to happen, Pakistan must eradicate terrorism from its soil, because they believe that “Talks and terror cannot go hand-in-glove”.
Prime Minister Sharif has pledged to do a “deep surgery” to bring the cash strapped country out of the alarming debt crisis and secure G20 membership by 2030.
According to him, he aims at bringing changes in the system that will put Pakistan’s economy back on track.
While his goal is regarded as ambitious, Pakistanis think it is quite unclear how Sharif plans to achieve it, especially in comparison to India’s economy.
