PDP Expels Wike, Fayose And Key Members Ahead Of 2027 Elections

(DDM) – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially ratified the expulsion of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, and several other key members from the party.

According to DDM findings, the National Working Committee (NWC) confirmed the decision on Tuesday after sending the expulsion certificates to the affected members by courier.

The expulsions were initially decided at the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November 2025. The NWC’s ratification forms part of the party’s efforts to enforce discipline and prevent internal sabotage ahead of the 2027 general elections.

PDP National Chairman, Kabiru Turaki, while addressing journalists in Abuja, listed the names of those expelled, including Senators Samuel Anyanwu and Mao Ohuabunwa, Umaru Bature, Kamarudeen Ajibade (SAN), Abdurahman Muhammad, Austin Nwachukwu, Abraham Amah Nnanna, George Turna, Chief Dan Orbih, alongside Wike and Fayose.

“They have been expelled. They remain expelled. We have now certified their expulsion, and these certificates have been sent to them,” Turaki said, emphasizing that any dealings with these individuals in the name of the PDP will be at the risk of others.

Turaki noted that the NWC has also reviewed ongoing legal challenges, including matters related to the closure of PDP offices at Legacy House and Wadata Plaza, expressing confidence in the party’s legal team to manage these disputes.

The leadership move signals a crackdown on dissent within the PDP and a clear message that the party intends to sanitize internal operations and strengthen cohesion in preparation for the forthcoming elections.

Political analysts suggest that the expulsions highlight tensions within the PDP between loyalists of former leadership figures and those aligned with the party’s current central command.

Observers also note that this decision could influence alliances, including Fayose’s position between supporting Nyesom Wike or Atiku Abubakar, reflecting deeper factional divides ahead of 2027.

The expulsion of high-profile members is expected to reverberate across state and national levels, shaping campaign strategies, party unity, and voter perceptions as the PDP seeks to maintain its relevance in Nigeria’s competitive political landscape.
