pdp vs Amaechi

The moves by the senators of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to scuttle official transfer of letter on screening of Ministerial nominees to Presidency suffered a setback as opposition Senators kicked against approval of Senate votes and proceedings.

Senate is expected to send the official communication to presidency on Tuesday (today) in order to enhance swearing-in Ministers designated.

PDP Senators had on last week Thursday staged a walk-out over decision of the Senate to confirm former governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi [above] who was accused of mismanagement of Rivers state resources.

However, at the resumption of plenary session on Tuesday, Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki asked Senator Peter Nwaoboshi (PDP) to second the motion of adoption of Senate votes and proceedings of October 29 (Thursday) which was moved by Senator Isiaka Adeleke.

But Nwaoboshi declined to second the motion saying that I will not able to second the motion because I was not at the plenary.

Senate President immediately called Senator Ibrahim Gobir to second the motion which he quickly did.

When the question was put by the Senate President, the PDP senators shouted “NAY” to express their displeasure with the confirmation of Amaechi as Ministerial nominee.
