PDP leaders urge Adediran “Jandor” to reconsider resignation

Lagos, Nigeria – Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have appealed to Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, to reconsider his decision to leave the party.

This development comes just two days after Jandor, the PDP’s 2023 Lagos State governorship candidate, announced his resignation at a press conference in Ikeja.

Jandor, in his resignation letter submitted on Monday, cited indiscipline and anti-party activities as key reasons for his departure.

He expressed dissatisfaction with internal party dynamics, stating that certain actions by some PDP leaders undermined the party’s performance during the 2023 elections.

Among those he referenced was the former Deputy National Chairman, Chief Olabode George, whom Jandor accused of working against the party’s interests.

On March 5, 2025, PDP leaders met Adediran in Abuja as National Secretary Ude Okoye led the delegation.

Transitioning purposefully, spokesman Gbenga Ogunleye confirmed the high-stakes dialogue through an official statement.

Key attendees included ex-Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan and former Rep. Shina Peller, signaling party realignment through influential stakeholder engagement.

Strengthening alliances, the talks underscored PDP’s strategic mobilization ahead of critical political developments.

The PDP leaders reportedly acknowledged Jandor’s grievances but urged him to reconsider his resignation and return to the party.

“They pleaded with him to revisit his decision and assured him of their commitment to addressing his concerns,” Ogunleye stated.

Jandor welcomed the delegation’s support, thanking them warmly while emphasizing openness to collaborate across political divides.
Yet he avoided confirming his resignation reversal or disclosing next steps, pledging clarity within months.
Meanwhile, his exit fueled Lagos political debates, with analysts questioning PDP’s regional stability post-departure.
Crucially, insiders labeled his exit damaging, citing his pivotal gubernatorial campaign role and grassroots sway.
As PDP rebuilds alliances ahead of elections, observers await Jandor’s moves and potential reconciliation outcomes.
