Fayose’s aide Lere Olayinka for PDP Publicity Secretary

Former Minister of Aviation, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode has endorsed Lere Olayinka for National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mr. Olayinka is the Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media to Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State.

Mr. Fani-Kayode, an avowed critic of President Mohammadu Buhari, took to his Twitter handle.

Tweeting @realFFK, on Sunday, he expressed his preference for Olayinka.

He tweeted; “I wish to express my support for Lere Olayinka for the position of National Publicity Secretary of the PDP. Lere will do an excellent job.”

Fani-Kayode was earlier rumoured to be interested in the National Publicity Secretary position until he debunked the rumour through his Facebook page.

Some other PDP southwestern stalwarts have also declared support for Olayinka.

One is former Ondo State information commissioner, Olorogun Eddy Olafeso.

Another is Ogun State born Segun Sowunmi who earlier declared interest to contest the party’s national publicity secretary.

Olafeso is now being positioned for the position of South-West national vice chairman of the party.

The PDP members in the United States had also declared their  support for layinka.

In a letter dated May 4 and addressed to the party’s National Chairman, Senator Ali Modu-Sherrif endorsed Olayinka, they said:

“Olayinka’s loyalty to the party is highly commendable and for these reasons and many more, PDP-USA is endorsing him for the position of publicity secretary to PDP-Nigeria.”

However, it seems some people are not comfortable with Lere Olayinka emerging for the post according to Olayinka himself.

He had taken to Facebook, in a “Public Notice”, to decry efforts by some disgruntled elements to throw spanner on his wheels.

He said: “Kindly note that whatever write-up that is not on any of my Facebook Timelines did not emanate from me.

“Some elements who are obviously threatened by my growing acceptability are now crediting some funny statements to me and posting same on some Facebook Groups and Timelines.”

He, therefore, offered to reach out to his followers via his personal Facebook Timelines:

“The general public should note that henceforth, I will only post statements on my Facebook Timelines (Lere Olayinka and Olalere Olayinka) where it can be copied or shared by anyone.

“Therefore, any statements on Facebook Groups and other Facebook Timelines that is not on any of my Facebook Timelines should be disregarded.
