PDP Senators plan to scuttle Amaechi, Usani confirmation

*As Senate set to confirm Amaechi, Shitu, others today*

Red Chamber has concluded the screening of‎ 36 Ministerial nominees as the Senator of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vowed to scuttled confirmation of Rotimi Amaechi  [above] and Pastor Usani Uguru Usani as Ministers of Federal Republic of Nigeria.

PDP senators immediately after the plenary went‎ into closed door session in which the lawmakers maintained their position that the report by Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petition on Amaechi and also Usani‎ over his comment on PDP during the screening exercise.

Although out of 36 screened Ministerial nominee only 18 nominees were confirmed so far by the Senate.

Those Ministerial nominees screened on Wednesday were Adamu Adamu (Bauchi) Professor Anthony Gozie Anwuka (Imo), Okechukwu Enelamah (Abia), Muhammadu Musa Bello (Adamawa) and Ms. Aisha Abubakar (Sokoto).

Also to be confirmed today are:

Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim(Yobe) , Claudius Omoleye Daramola (Ondo) , , Geoffrey Onyeama( Enugu) Brigadier Mohammed M. Dan-Ali (Zamfara) Barrister James E. Ocholi(Kogi) , Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed(Kaduna) , Mustapha Baba Shehuri (Borno) , Senator Heineken Lokpobiri(Bayelsa) Professor Isaac Adewole Folorunsho (Osun) , Pastor Usani Usani Uguru (Cross River) and Abubakar Bwari Bawa(Niger).

Prominent among those so far cleared are Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, Senator Hadi Sirika, General Abdulrahman Bello Danbazau, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, Raji Babatunde Fashola, Senator Chris Ngige Dr Ogbonnaya Onu as well as Chief Audu Ogbeh.

On the PDP Senators meeting, a senator who attended the meeting but pleaded anonymity ‎hinted newsmen that PDP senators would protect their interest “By opposing those to be opposed during the process of clearance of the nominees today”.

But, the Senator refrained from giving detailed information on what the caucus actually discussed at the meeting.

However, the majority leader, Senator Ali Ndume had assured that the ruling party Senator would not allow opposition to scuttle confirmation of their Ministerial nominees.
