PDP slams Benue massacre, blames Tinubu

June 16, 2025- The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fiercely condemned the brutal massacre of over 200 Nigerians in Benue State. Calling the killings horrifying, the party blamed President Bola Tinubu’s leadership failure for the escalating insecurity. In a statement by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, the party expressed outrage over the attacks, accusing the APC-led government of negligence. The PDP stressed that such violence highlights the administration’s inability to protect citizens.
Terrorists Strike as Government Fails
According to the PDP, terrorists and bandits carried out coordinated attacks across Benue communities for days. The party criticized Tinubu’s slow response, claiming his inaction emboldens criminals. Furthermore, the PDP alleged that the APC’s alleged ties to terrorist interests worsen the crisis. “Watching gory videos of murdered Nigerians while Tinubu acts unconcerned is traumatic,” the statement read. The opposition also slammed the President for relying on weak press statements instead of taking decisive action.
Rising Death Toll Under APC
The PDP accused the APC of prioritizing 2027 re-election plans over national security. Shockingly, over 600,000 Nigerians have reportedly died violently in two years due to government failure. The party demanded immediate action, urging Tinubu to visit Benue and lead from the front. “End this lethargic approach; act now as Commander-in-Chief,” the statement insisted. Additionally, the PDP praised security forces for their sacrifices despite poor leadership.
Nation Demands Accountability
As insecurity worsens, public frustration grows over Tinubu’s perceived inaction. The PDP extended condolences to victims’ families while urging security agencies to persist. This tragedy has reignited debates on governance and accountability. Nigerians now await Tinubu’s response amid mounting pressure. Will he finally act, or will more lives be lost? The nation watches anxiously.
