
JOKE: Ali modu Sherrif Leaving PDP after the supreme court affirms Makarfi Faction as substantive leadership
Senators of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caucus on Wednesday offered the olive branch to former chairman the party , Ali Modu Sheriff, members of his faction and the defectors to return to the party.
The Federal lawmakers, led by Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, who stormed out the plenary session to brief newsmen, applauded Supreme Court decision on the PDP which declared Makarfi’s faction of the party as authentic.
The PDP Senators described the verdict as ” a monumental event, delighted that protracted leadership tussle which virtually tore the party apart is finally settled”.
The PDP caucus called on members especially those aggrieved to close ranks, describing the tussle as “a family quarrel” that should not have been allowed to escalate and delay for so long.
“It’s a “No Victor, No Vanquish”, a family quarrel, Akpabio said.
The Minority Leader said “the blood remains the same, using the occasion of the verdict to call on Ali Modu Sheriff and others with him to return home to PDP.
He said even though he was not speaking for the party, nobody will be penalized.
Also speaking, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu described today as great day for PDP, saluting the courage of judiciary for reaching the verdict.
Also in attendant, Senator David Mark, stated that the Supreme Court verdict is not just a victory for PDP but a victory for democracy; hoping the lessons is not lost on all members.
