Peace gradually returning to S’East as Biafra National Guard lay down arms

Biafra National Guard, a separatist movement pushing for the restoration of defunct Biafra Republic, has laid down it’s arms, a source familiar with the development, told News Band Newspaper.
This latest development comes after BNG which is led by General Innocent Orji, in the last eight months, went underground after Nigerian military raided their camp in Abia State.
A source reliably told News Band that General Innocent Orji after much pleas and negotiations with political stakeholders in the SouthEast decided to give peace a chance by laying down his arms.
Considering the economic and political damage done by the activities of other Biafra agitators, especially the group led by the jailed leader of the Autopilot group, Mr. Simon Ekpa, General Innocent Orji decided to embrace political negotiation as one of the profitable ways of addressing the perennial issues fueling the agitations.
“General Innocent Orji has laid down his arms. He was persuaded by the leaders of thought and political stakeholders from the region to give peace a chance.
“Though, I can’t categorically tell the promises that was made to him by the powers that be before he accepted the peace deal”, the source revealed.
But when this medium reached out to General Innocent Orji to verify this claim, he vehemently denied it.
He said all the arms in possession of Biafra National Guard (BNG) belongs to Biafra Provincial Government (BPG) and cannot be sold to anyone.
Speaking further, General Orji said he has never laid down his arms. He categorically stated that Biafra restoration cannot be over until it is fully recognized as 194th member state of United Nations and the 54th Nation of the African Union (AU).
He said, “All the arms I have belongs to Biafra Provincial Government (BPG)and cannot be sold to anyone or country for now
“The arms is for Biafra defense and nothing more
“Biafra restoration cannot be over until it’s fully recognized as 194th member state of United Nations (UN) and the 54th Nation of the African Union (AU).
When News Band also asked him about the report of his group losing their support base in the SouthEast, General Innocent Orji dismissed it as false.
According to him, BNG is not losing the support of the people. It only decided to be strategic, focused on what needs to be done, than trying to please the public.
He added, “BNG is not losing the support of the people. BNG has only decided to be strategic, focused on what needs to be done, than trying to please the public.
“And very soon the presence of the United Nations will be seen in State of Biafra, because Biafra Provincial Government (BPG) is working so hard for it and soon it will be over.”
