A concerned citizen, Mr. Francis Ogosi, has called the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government, of Nigerian, through the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, to increase the minimum wage from 30,000 naira to 60,000 naira.

Mr. Ogosi made the call in a petition he started online on Change.org.

Explaining the reason behind the petition, Ogosi explained: “The standard of living in Nigeria has deteriorated due to high inflation rates.

“The standard of living in Nigeria has significantly deteriorated due to the high inflation that has consistently risen over the years.

“The average Nigerian is struggling too hard to make ends meet based on the meagre salary being earned.

“The cost of living has always been on a persistent rise and has further escalated to worrisome and unsustainable levels in the past six years thus making it very difficult for the average Nigerian to make ends meet and take care of their respective families.

“We should be our brother’s keeper and come together to support the minimum wage increment.

“Where successful, this will help cushion the sufferings of the masses and enable citizens to make ends meet given the high food prices.”

He, therefore, urged all concerned citizens to sign this petition calling on the Nigerian government via Labour Minister Dr. Chris Ngige to increase the minimum wage from 30,000 naira to 60,000 naira.
