PHOTO: Activist rescues woman battered by husband in Anambra
A heartbreaking video of a woman found sleeping in a bush with her baby tightly clamped to her bosom, has drawn the attention of good human rights activists and public spirited individuals.
A Facebook user, Mr. Onyeka, was reportedly walking home at night when she came across the woman beside the bush path.
He approached her and shone his flashlight on her, waking her up. On close inspection, he noticed that she had bloody wounds on her head and face.
She tried to get up on her feet but fell back to the ground, while continuing to hold tightly to her baby.
Upon interrogation, the woman said she was battered by her husband who sent her out of the house with their youngest baby.
Onyeka’s post attracted Harrison Gwamnishu who left his base in Asaba to go find the woman in Anambra.
He took her to the hospital for proper treatment and gave Onyeka some money to look after her.
