Ese Ukpeseraye, Nigerian cyclist has revealed that she had to borrow a bicycle from the German team to compete in the Keirin and Sprint events at the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics after the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN) failed to provide one for her.

She found herself in a difficult situation when she had no bicycle to race with in the keirin and sprint events due to the short notice of her participation.

Ukpeseraye disclosed this on her official X handle on Thursday.

“Due to the short notice of me competing at the keirin & Sprint, #teamNigeria I had no bicycle to race with on the tracks”, she said.

The German team, Bund Deutscher Radfahrer, stepped in to assist the Nigerian athlete.

However, Ukpeseraye expressed her appreciation to the German counterpart on her X handle (formerly Twitter), saying: “Due to the short notice of me competing at the Keirin & Sprint, #teamNigeria I had no bicycle to race with on the tracks.

“In d spirit of sportsmanship the German team @bunddeutscherradfahr came to my rescue by offering me a bicycle. Thank you.”
