The picture posted by the Presidency shows President Buhari in a get together party with party leaders

The former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani Kayode and a host of other Nigerians have alleged that the purported picture of some governors under the platform of the All Progressives Congress [APC] and some party leaders with President Muhammadu Buhari in London on Sunday is old, hence a fake one.

Chief Fani Kayode made the allegations in an essay he personally made available to Elombah.com

Fani Kayode claimed that they were taken during Ramadan in Abuja some time back and not yesterday in London. He wrote:

“The picture of a handful of APC Governors and President Muhammadu Buhari, which was purportedly taken in London yesterday, is old and fake.

“I have been reliably informed that they were taken during Ramadan in Abuja some time back and not yesterday in London.”

Besides the controversy surrounding the picture, he raised eyebrows over the drinks uused in the gathering, saying:

“Quite apart from that even though the picture was meant to have been taken in London curiously all the drinks on the table are Nigerian products and Nigerian-made.

“Did the Governors take all those drinks along with them to London when they went to see the President?”

He further recalled that Acting President Yemi Osinbajo and some government officials said that Buhari would be back on the 28th of July and wondered:

“Is Buhari not coming home soon again? Acting President Yemi Osinbajo and some government officials told us that he would be back on the 28th of July which is just a few days away.

“Why the need for the APC Governors to “visit” him in faraway London if he will be back in Nigeria in a few days?

“What was the purpose and point of this fake photo-shoot and this strange breakfast meeting? What was the purpose and objective of this monumental fraud and deceit?”

He concluded by saying that “whatever the answers may be to these questions the curtain must be brought down on what can only be described as a puerile and nauseating conspiracy.”

Apart from Chief Fani Kayode, other Nigerians have also cast aspersions on the photos.

Mr Oluyemi Fasipe, tweeting on‏ @YemieFASH, said:

“This picture was posted few minutes ago by the Presidency, so Buhari has the energy for a get together party but cannot address the country.”

Again he tweeted:

“Buhari has no regard 4 Nigerians, even D 15 million dullards that voted him, he couldn’t address D nation but can party with APC delegates”.

Another commentator who pleaded anonymity said the picture was captured during Buhari’s visit to the then British Prime Minister, David Cameron.
