Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has donated ₦15 million to two educational institutions in Bauchi State.

The former governor of Anambra State announced the donation during his visit to the schools on Friday, August 8, 2025.

Obi gave ₦10 million to Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences and ₦5 million to Intisharu Taufizul Quranic School.

He said the gesture was part of his personal commitment to supporting education and healthcare in Nigeria.

Addressing students and management at the College of Nursing Sciences, Obi described nurses as the foundation of the healthcare system.

According to him, no country can achieve real development without a strong health sector.

“You are very important to society and to Nigeria. The number one measure of success for any nation is health, and you can’t measure health without human infrastructure,” Obi stated.

“The nurse knows the patient, owns the patient, and is everything.”Peter Obi donates in Bauchi schools.

Obi revealed that he has been visiting and supporting about 70 nursing schools annually across the country.

He stressed that such investments are crucial in addressing Nigeria’s shortage of skilled health workers.

At the Quranic school, Obi commended the management for their dedication to moral and spiritual education.

He urged them to continue instilling discipline and values in their students, adding that moral education is as important as academic knowledge.

The proprietor of Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences, Aminu Danmaliki, thanked Obi for the donation.

He promised that the funds would be used to improve teaching facilities and student welfare.

Similarly, Alhaji Usman Abubakar, who heads Intisharu Taufizul Quranic School, expressed appreciation and assured that the support would directly benefit the students.

Obi called on wealthy Nigerians and corporate bodies to invest more in education and healthcare.

He argued that the government alone cannot solve all the sector’s challenges, and private contributions can make a significant impact.

With this latest gesture, Obi has once again positioned himself as a vocal advocate for human capital development.

His visits to Bauchi schools highlight his consistent push for a better-educated and healthier Nigerian population.
