President Bola Tinubu met with Rwandan President Paul Kagame for a private lunch in Paris, France, on January 4, 2026, where they discussed global developments and strategies for advancing Africa amid shifting international realities.

The meeting focused on positioning Africa for growth in a dynamic world, with Tinubu highlighting the need for the continent to adapt to emerging global challenges.

Tinubu shared details of the engagement on X, saying, “This afternoon, I had a private lunch with H. E. President Paul Kagame of Rwanda to discuss the current state of world affairs and advancing Africa in an ever-changing global landscape”.

The meeting was part of Tinubu’s European trip, which began on December 28, 2025. He is expected to attend the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) Summit in the United Arab Emirates, where leaders will discuss sustainable development and global progress.

Interestingly, an image shared by the Presidency showing Tinubu and Kagame’s meeting was flagged as AI-generated, sparking controversy and raising questions about transparency in official communications.
