The body of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, has arrived at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina State and is now en route to his hometown, Daura, for burial.

Buhari passed away on Sunday at a hospital in London, prompting nationwide mourning and tributes from both local and international leaders. His remains arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday afternoon, onboard a chartered aircraft from the United Kingdom.

Photos show a solemn arrival ceremony as dignitaries, military officials, and family members gathered at the airport. The body, wrapped in the national flag, was received by a high-powered federal delegation led by top government officials and close allies.

From the airport, Buhari’s remains were moved under tight security to Daura, where he will be buried according to Islamic rites later today.
