Britain’s monarch King Charles III and Queen Camilla on Wednesday formally received Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu at Windsor Castle, marking the start of a high-level state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.

The Nigerian leader and his wife were welcomed with full ceremonial honours, including a 42-gun salute by the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, as both British and Nigerian flags lined the streets of Windsor.
President Tinubu was introduced to senior members of the British royal family, including Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, during the official reception ceremony.

Details of the visit were shared by presidential aide Dada Olusegun via social media, highlighting the warm reception accorded to the Nigerian delegation.

The two-day visit, hosted by King Charles III, is expected to deepen diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Officials say discussions will focus on new partnerships and the signing of memoranda of understanding across key sectors, including trade, investment, and development.

A state banquet is scheduled to hold at St George’s Hall later on Wednesday, with members of the royal family, including the King and Queen, as well as the Prince and Princess of Wales, expected to attend.
The visit underscores ongoing efforts by both countries to strengthen longstanding ties, particularly in areas of economic cooperation and diplomatic engagement.
