Obi’s ₦20m support for Almajiri education and healthcare training has drawn praise across Nigeria.
During a visit to Kaduna, the former Anambra governor and 2023 presidential candidate donated ₦20 million to four institutions.
His donations includes two Almajiri schools, as part of his campaign to boost education and health outcomes nationwide.
Obi announced the donations during a visit to the schools on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. He shared updates via his official X handle formerly Twitter.
He said the visit reflects his belief in building a “New Nigeria” through investment in human capital.
“When we invest in education and healthcare, we’re not just building schools or hospitals,” Obi stated. “We are building the future of a secure, productive, and united Nigeria.”
Obi first stopped at the Muhammad Sambo Memorial Islamic Institute, founded by Sheikh Yusuf Sambo Rigachukwu. He pledged continuous support to the institute’s educational mission.
He also visited Madarasatul Hidayyatul Auladi Muslimima Almajiri School in Kawo. Obi said he had supported the school five times before. During this visit, he donated another ₦5 million.
“No child deserves to be left behind,” he said. “Wherever they are, we must take education to them. That’s how we break the cycle of poverty.”
He continued his visit at Womenhood College of Health Sciences and Technology, where he donated ₦5 million.
The college trains women in healthcare, especially in rural communities.
At St. Gerald’s College of Nursing Sciences, he presented ₦10 million. He praised the school for producing compassionate and skilled nurses.
Obi urged student leaders to focus on service, not titles. He said Nigeria needs leaders who touch lives and deliver results.
“Leadership is not about the title,” he said. “It’s about the impact you make on people.”
This isn’t the first time Obi has made such donations. In June, he gave ₦15 million to Philomena College of Nursing Sciences in Edo State.
