The reconciliation efforts among Rivers State political leaders received a boost after FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, APC governorship candidate Kingsley Chinda and their supporters met with Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of his political camp in Port Harcourt.

The closed-door meeting, held at the governor’s residence on Tuesday, lasted about four hours.
Wike and Chinda arrived at the residence with their supporters at about 4pm and joined Fubara and his supporters for the discussions.
The meeting marked the first known occasion Fubara personally participated in a reconciliation meeting involving supporters from the different political camps.
The development follows years of political disagreements that created divisions among Rivers politicians and supporters, including the prolonged dispute between Fubara and members of the state House of Assembly.
However, tensions between the political camps have eased in recent months as efforts continue to consolidate reconciliation in the state.
Neither Wike, Chinda nor Fubara addressed journalists after the meeting, while their supporters also declined to comment on the outcome.
The details of the discussions therefore remained undisclosed.
The latest engagement comes as political actors in Rivers State prepare for the 2027 general elections, with continued reconciliation expected to shape relationships among the major political camps in the state.
