Plane crash kills 181 crew members, passengers in South Korea

Jeju Air Flight 7C2216, a Boeing 737-8AS with registration HL8088, crashed while landing at Muan Airport in South Korea on December 29, 2024.
The flight departed from Bangkok, Thailand, with 181 people on board, including 175 passengers and 6 crew members.
Unfortunately, the crash resulted in no survivors.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, but preliminary reports suggest that the plane veered off the runway and struck an embankment before bursting into flames.
The passengers on board were mostly South Korean nationals, with two Thai nationals also on the flight.
Many of the passengers were returning from a Christmas package tour to Bangkok.
The crash has been described as one of the deadliest aviation disasters in South Korea’s history.
Rescue efforts were launched immediately after the crash, with emergency responders rushing to the scene to search for survivors.
However, due to the severity of the crash and the resulting fire, no survivors were found.
An investigation into the cause of the crash has been launched by the Korean Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board (ARAIB).
The investigation will examine various factors, including the weather conditions at the time of the crash, the performance of the aircraft, and the actions of the pilots.
In the aftermath of the crash, Jeju Air has issued a statement expressing its condolences to the families of the passengers and crew on board.
The airline has also pledged to cooperate fully with the investigation and to take any necessary steps to ensure the safety of its passengers and crew.
