Poisoned Chocolate Gift: Ecuador’s President Noboa Survives Assassination Plot

(DDM) – Ecuadorean President Daniel Noboa has revealed that he narrowly escaped a third assassination attempt involving poison-laced gifts, including jam and chocolate allegedly sent to his office.

The shocking revelation comes barely weeks after Noboa survived two previous attempts on his life, deepening fears about the growing political instability in Ecuador.

According to Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) findings from CNN’s exclusive interview, the president disclosed that the latest attempt was uncovered after forensic analysis of the suspicious food gifts.

He stated that the products contained “very high concentrations of three different chemicals,” a combination experts described as lethal if ingested.

President Noboa said the incident occurred earlier this month, noting that the chemicals found in the jam and chocolate were not naturally occurring. “It was practically impossible for these to be present together at those levels,” Noboa explained, implying that the items had been intentionally spiked.

Security officials have since launched a full-scale investigation into the origin of the poisonous gifts. Reports indicate that the presidential security unit intercepted the items before they reached Noboa’s residence, preventing what could have been a fatal outcome.

This development marks the third assassination attempt against the 36-year-old leader since he assumed office in 2023. The previous plots included an explosive attack targeting his convoy and an armed ambush on his motorcade earlier this year.

Ecuador has faced escalating political violence in recent months, fueled by gang wars and organized crime syndicates that have penetrated politics and law enforcement. Analysts say Noboa’s aggressive crackdown on narco-politics may have triggered the series of assassination plots.

The Ecuadorean government has since reinforced the president’s personal security, increasing intelligence coordination with both domestic and international agencies.

Meanwhile, citizens have expressed outrage over the repeated attempts, demanding accountability and transparency from state security institutions. Many have urged the president to relocate operations temporarily until investigations conclude.

The Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) correspondent gathered that the president’s office is reviewing new security protocols for deliveries, including the use of biometric verification and chemical screening for all items entering government buildings.

Despite the threats, President Noboa vowed not to back down from his reform agenda. “They want to silence me because I am cleaning up a corrupt system,” he said defiantly.

He added that the government remains committed to fighting organized crime, strengthening institutions, and restoring national stability.

The attempted poisoning has sparked international reactions, with leaders across Latin America condemning the attack and offering solidarity with Ecuador.

Global security experts warn that the incident signals a dangerous escalation in Latin America’s war against corruption and organized crime, where political figures increasingly face deadly retaliation for reforms.

President Noboa’s resilience, observers say, underscores the growing risks of leadership in nations battling deep-rooted criminal networks determined to resist state control.

Ecuadorians are now watching closely as authorities pursue those behind the assassination plot, a chilling reminder that even sweet gifts can hide deadly intentions.
