Arrest: Police Free 10 Minors from Nasarawa Protest

Police in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State captured two suspected vandals after a dramatic foot chase through the city’s streets.

Officers recovered a shocking array of stolen goods following a tip-off about criminal activity in the Ndiya Street area.

According to police spokesperson DSP Timfon John, the operation unfolded on Sunday when authorities received reports of ongoing vandalism.

Patrol teams raced to the scene, catching one suspect red-handed while the other fled through nearby lanes.

The second vandal didn’t escape for long—police tracked him down hours later near Ebiare Afiat Lane.

Under questioning, both men revealed a third accomplice who allegedly buys stolen goods, sparking a fresh manhunt.

Among the recovered items were industrial gas cylinders, generators, and mechanic tools.

Police also found a Coca-Cola stand, solar panels, and even a car wheel, suggesting the thieves targeted multiple properties.

DSP John confirmed the suspects will face prosecution once investigations wrap up.

She praised vigilant residents for their tip and urged others to keep reporting suspicious activities promptly.

This bust highlights Akwa Ibom police’s crackdown on property crimes disrupting neighborhoods.

With vandalism cases rising, authorities warn criminals that tighter surveillance makes hiding harder.

Meanwhile, detectives continue combing through evidence, tracing the stolen goods’ origins.

The recovered generators and tools alone represent significant losses for local businesses and homeowners.

Community leaders applauded the arrests but demand tougher penalties to deter future thefts.

Many victims struggle to replace stolen equipment, hurting livelihoods across Uyo’s commercial districts.

As night falls, officers remain on high alert, patrolling hotspot areas where vandals previously struck.

Their visibility reassures nervous shop owners while sending a clear message to would-be thieves.

The case exposes a thriving black market for stolen goods, prompting calls for regulation of scrap dealers.

Police plan undercover operations to dismantle these networks fueling property crimes.

For now, the two suspects sit in custody, their fate hinging on ongoing investigations.

Meanwhile, recovered items await identification and return to rightful owners—some unaware they were robbed.

This arrest spree proves community-police collaboration works, but lasting solutions require addressing unemployment driving desperate crimes.

Until then, Uyo’s streets grow safer—one intercepted vandal at a time.
