Police arrests, parades killers of PH-based lawyer, Ken Atsuete

The Rivers State police command has arrested the suspected murderers of the late Port Harcourt-based lawyer and activist, Barrister Ken Atsuete.

The Rivers State police command has arrested the suspected murderers of the late Port Harcourt lawyer and activist, Barrister Ken Atsuete.

The suspects were paraded in Abuja on Friday.

Those paraded by the police include father and son, as well as two others who allegedly kidnapped and murdered Mr. Atsuete viz:

1. Ezims Aleru and his son, 

2. Junior Aleru, 

3. Chibiko Amuzuo and,

4. Amadi Nathaniel.

During the parade in Abuja, the Force Spokesman, Don Awunah displayed exhibits recovered from them to include, one AK 47 rifle, 124 live ammunition, and four AK 47 magazines.

Awunah said Amuzuo,22, a native of Umuchie in Omuna Local Government Area of Rivers State as the leader of the gang.

He stated;

“Amuzuo is a self-confessed member of the Iceland Cult group, Kelga Mariner and a notorious kidnapper. 

“He also confessed to having led his gang of armed men to murder the deceased. 

“The AK 47 rifle with which he used to kill the deceased was recovered.

“Also, contrary to wide public suspicion that he was hired to assassinate the deceased, the suspect according to his statement revealed that the murder was as a result of a botched kidnap attempt.”

He also noted that other members of the gang confessed to committing the crime.

Amuzuo, on the other hand, fingered Aleru and his wife as the mastermind of the murder but declined to explain their roles in the crime.

“This man (Ezims) led us to all these things. He and his wife were responsible for this operation”, he alleged.

Barr. Atsuete was murdered on August 29, 2016, along Onuchiolu road, Aluu in Ikwerre Local Government area of Rivers State.
