The Nigeria Police Force has denied the reports that Evans the kidnapper, real name Chukwuduneme Onwuamadike, has vanished into thin air from police custody.
The Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters in Abuja, CSP Jimoh Moshood made the submission on Saturday via a press release.
In the press release titled “Re – Evans Vanishes, Billionaire Kidnapper’s Whereabout Unknown”, CSP Moshood said that “Evans is intact in Police Custody.
He added that “investigations into all the crimes he has committed which include several kidnappings; armed robbery and murder are ongoing.
“The Police have made significant progress in the investigations of these crimes.”
He, therefore, urged the public to “disregard and discountenance all media reports in the social and print media that he has vanished or released and all criminal charges against him dropped as untrue and absolute falsehood.”
He concluded by saying that “Evans is in Police Custody and would be arraigned in court along with other members of his gang on completion of investigation.”
Evans, it could be recalled, was arrested following a tip off that the active dodger, who eluded the police for seven years was sighted.
The police followed on his trails and arrested him and members of his gang.
Evans has reportedly masterminded the kidnap of several citizens from who he collected ransom that ran into millions of dollars.
