Police gun down three notorious kidnappers in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has neutralized three notorious gunmen believed to be behind a series of kidnappings in Abuja and surrounding areas.

The suspects were tracked to their hideout in Zinda Forest, bordering Nasarawa State, following two major abductions carried out within two days.

In a statement issued on Saturday, FCT Police Public Relations Officer Josephine Adeh detailed the operation, which began after the armed men attempted to abduct two young women in Guzape District, using them as human shields to evade capture.

Tactical operatives led by Commissioner of Police CP Ajao S. Adewale successfully rescued the victims unharmed, though a vigilante member, Bako Pwaza, tragically lost his life during the attack.

Two days later, the gang abducted a man, Mr. Nafiu Idris, in Karu. Acting on credible intelligence, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, supported by local hunters and vigilantes, stormed the gang’s hideout on September 18, 2025.

A gunfight ensued, resulting in the deaths of the gang leader Abdullahi Umar (a.k.a. Duna) and his lieutenants Buba Ahmadi (a.k.a. Killer) and Habi Sule (a.k.a. Mai-Kudi).

Two AK-49 rifles with magazines and live ammunition, mobile phones, ATM cards, charms, animal horns, and ₦10,000 cash, were recovered from the criminals.

Preliminary investigations link the gang to multiple kidnappings across Karu, Guzape, Kpobi, and other locations in Nasarawa State. Their planned attack on a Karu resident was thwarted by the operation.

The Commissioner of Police praised the officers for their bravery and urged residents to remain vigilant, encouraging them to report suspicious activities via emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883.
