Police intensify crackdown on attackers that killed three persons
DDM NEWS
The serene Agwa Community in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State was thrown into mourning and fear after a brutal and coordinated attack that claimed the lives of three residents and left several others injured.
The incident, which occurred between June 4 and 5, 2025, has triggered a sweeping security crackdown by the Imo State Police Command as part of urgent efforts to restore normalcy and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The aftermath of the tragedy has seen heightened police activity across the region, with Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, ordering an immediate and comprehensive offensive against the criminal elements responsible for the assault.
A tactical response unit, bolstered by local vigilante groups and allied security operatives, has launched a relentless manhunt across forested zones, bushes, and notorious hideouts suspected of sheltering the attackers.
During one of the raids, three suspected bandits were reportedly neutralized, with others sustaining injuries as operatives intensified their sweep of known criminal enclaves.
Condemning the attacks as barbaric and a direct affront on the peace-loving people of Agwa, CP Danjuma tasked the State Criminal Investigation Department, under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner, with leading a meticulous probe into the killings.
The police have reassured residents that the situation is under control, affirming that security has been significantly reinforced across Agwa and surrounding communities to deter further bloodshed.
Meanwhile, residents remain gripped by anxiety over the increasing frequency of violent incidents that have steadily eroded the region’s sense of safety.
The Imo State Police Command, through its spokesperson Henry Okoye, has extended condolences to the families of the victims and called on the public to remain vigilant and supportive of law enforcement.
Citizens with useful information are urged to contact the police through the emergency hotline, 08034773600, as community collaboration is deemed critical in dismantling the criminal networks destabilizing the area.
