Police nab man for flogging wife to death over Ramadan food

Police authorities in Bauchi State have arrested a 50-year-old man, Alhaji Nuru Isah, for allegedly beating his wife, Wasila Abdullahi, to death with a cane.

The unfortunate incident News Band understand, occurred near Government Girls College, Fadamam, Mada Area, Bauchi.

CSP Ahmed Wakil, the spokesman of the command in Bauchi State, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

He said, “On the March 1, 2025, at about 11:30 PM, the Bauchi State Police Command was alerted to an alleged culpable homicide incident near Government Girls College, Fadamam Mada Area, Bauchi.

“This unfortunate event arose from a misunderstanding between one Alh Nuru Isah, aged 50, a businessman at Central market Bauchi and his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, aged 24, concerning handling food ingredients and fruits designated for breaking the Ramadan fast, which escalated into a violent confrontation.”

The police image maker noted that after striking his wife with the cane, she collapsed and was rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed her death.

He added that the Bauchi State Police Command has launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident and that the suspect remains in custody.

Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Muhammad assured the public that the command is committed to ensuring justice in the case.
