Police officer beaten mercilessly for snatching poll materials in Imo

A police operative on Saturday was beaten mercilessly by community youths in Imo State after he allegedly snatched election materials at a polling unit.

This medium gathered that the officer, alongside others, was attached to a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikeduru local government area of the state.

They were said to have been instructed by the unnamed politician to snatch ballots at Amakohia Ikeduru Collation Center, where APC lost.

However, the community youths caught one of the policemen while others took to their heels.

Meanwhile, the spokesman of the police, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the police is aware of the incident and would leave no stone unturned to investigate it.

‘The Nigeria Police Force is aware of the allegation regarding this supposed police officer purportedly involved in ballot snatching at the Amakohia Ikeduru Collation Centre in Imo State.

“We do not take this issue lightly as it bothers on the integrity of the force and the capability of its members to maintain election integrity. We therefore assure the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted, and we will update you asap. It requires a thorough investigation. Thanks, ” Adejobi said on his X handle, Saturday night
