Police Raid Criminal Hideout in Anambra, Recover Guns, Ammunition

AWKA, Anambra State — The Anambra State Police Command has conducted a successful raid on a notorious criminal hideout in the Awada area of the state, recovering a cache of weapons and ammunition, authorities have confirmed.

The operation, which took place on Thursday, targeted a hideout allegedly used by cultists and other criminal elements terrorising residents of Awada and surrounding communities. According to police sources, the raid was carried out following weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance on the location.

During the operation, operatives recovered AK-47 magazines and various types of ammunition. Other items, including suspected stolen property and incriminating documents, were also seized from the hideout, according to a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer.

The Anambra State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities across the state, with a focus on dismantling cultist networks and recovering illegal weapons. The command has urged residents to continue providing useful information to security agencies to aid in the fight against crime.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State has commended the operatives for their bravery and professionalism, assuring that the command will not relent in its efforts to rid the state of criminal elements. He also warned criminals to leave the state or face the full wrath of the law.
