Three people have been rescued in Kwara State after a team of policemen, vigilantes and hunters engaged their kidnappers in a gun battle in the Aboto area in Asa LGA.

While noting that the rescued victims, including a vigilante, Muiz Isiaka, were kidnapped during the week at different locations, Chairman of the vigilantes in Kwara State, Saka Ibrahim, noted that Muiz was on his way in his car going to drop off his in-laws who attended the naming ceremony of his baby when he was ambushed and whisked away.

Ibrahim, who confirmed the development in a telephone chat with this medium on Sunday, said, “The victims were rescued after an exchange of gunfire between our men, hunters and the police around 2am on Friday.

“They were rescued without any ransom paid, but none of their abductors was killed. They succumbed to the fire power of our men who combed the bush for days and abandoned their captives.”

Confirming the incident, the police spokesman in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi, said one of the abductors had been arrested.
