Poor knowledge of the law is killing Nigeria — Kanu fumes as court adjourns his trial indefinitely

The embattled leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, who is being tried for treason, is becoming increasingly frustrated following the manner his case is going under the trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako.

The separatist leader who was in court today, declared that both the prosecution and the court do not know the law.

Kanu expressed his anger because he was still brought before Justice Binta Nyako in whom he had said he had no confidence.

Though, the explanation of Justice Nyako that the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, had refused the oral application made by Kanu for her to recuse herself from the case, fell on deaf ears.

The IPOB leader also refused to listen when Justice Nyako said the application must be brought formally before the court through a motion on notice.

Kanu who addressed the court said everything the judge said was meaningless to him.

However, Binta Nyako had to adjourn the case indefinitely.

Meanwhile, after the proceeding, Kanu kept screaming, “The prosecution and this court do not know the law. That is the fact. Poor knowledge of the law is killing Nigeria. This is a federal gazetted law of Nigeria that the Chief Judge cannot tell Binta Nyako what to do. It’s here. It’s your law, just obey it. That is why I do what I do. I agitate for Biafra… my right to agitate. They turned it (my case) from treasonable felony to terrorism”

He also alleged that Justice Binta Nyako has been instructed to convict him so that they free his son and husband who are currently facing corruption chagres.

Recall that earlier in January, Kanu filed a petition against Justice Nyako before the National Judicial Council, accusing her of judicial misconduct in handling his trial.

Days later, the IPOB leader called for his case to be transferred to the South-East if no judge at the Federal High Court in Abuja is willing to preside over it apart from Justice Binta Nyako.
