(DDM) – Nigerian lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, has intensified criticism of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, in a series of provocative social media posts that ignited fierce debate across the country.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that Adeyanju took to Facebook on Thursday, where he compared controversial street-hop artist, Portable, to Wike, claiming the musician possessed more reliability and integrity in keeping secrets than the former Rivers State governor.
“Portable keeps secrets more than Wike and has more integrity,” Adeyanju declared in his viral post.
He further alleged that “whoever does anything with Wike is doing so at a market square,” before warning that “Tinubu’s day is coming.”
In subsequent updates, Adeyanju described Wike as “a bloody clown” who “always sounds drunk,” insisting that the minister’s behavior and leadership style lacked seriousness and dignity.
He argued that Wike’s continued presence in a top government position exemplified Nigeria’s tolerance of questionable political figures, contrasting the scenario with the United States where citizens openly criticize leaders such as Donald Trump without restraint.
“It’s only in a country like Nigeria that clowns like Wike can hold public office,” Adeyanju wrote. “American citizens call Trump different names every day. Wike is a bloody clown who always sounds drunk.”
The remarks emerged shortly after activist Omoyele Sowore accused Wike of suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should have arranged for his assassination over allegations that he is a criminal.
Sowore condemned Wike’s alleged statement, calling it evidence of a dangerous and intolerant political class that thrives on intimidation.
Sowore wrote: “I heard that the FCT’s drunkard–murderer Minister, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, said Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu should have assassinated me for calling him a criminal.”
He lamented that Nigerians’ docility has allowed “criminals, thieves, and murderers” to assume leadership roles unchecked.
Adeyanju’s comments added fuel to the controversy, amplifying questions about Wike’s political future, integrity, and loyalty within President Tinubu’s administration.
Critics say the minister’s history of sharp political maneuvers, shifting allegiances, and public outbursts has made him one of Nigeria’s most polarizing political figures.
Supporters of Wike, however, dismissed Adeyanju’s tirades as political theatre designed to score cheap points.
They argue that the minister remains a strong administrator whose influence in Rivers State politics and national affairs cannot be ignored.
Nevertheless, Adeyanju’s comparison of Wike with Portable, an artist notorious for his eccentric lifestyle and unpredictable behavior, has given the debate viral traction, with many Nigerians jokingly weighing who truly has “more integrity.”
The controversy underscores a broader public frustration with political accountability and the perception that Nigeria’s leaders often escape scrutiny despite mounting allegations of corruption and misconduct.
