The city of Calabar in Cross River State was thrown into mourning yesterday evening following a fatal accident that claimed the lives of two young individuals.

The tragic incident occurred at Diamond Junction at approximately 5:46 PM, when a power biker collided with a stationary car.

The driver of the car fled the scene, leaving the victims in critical condition.

The victims, identified as Effanga Effanga, the biker, and an unidentified young lady, were rushed to the hospital but succumbed to their injuries.

An eyewitness at the scene shared their harrowing experience:

“This accident is shocking. The event that I am here at Calabar for had a biker’s session to kick start it. About 2 PM, the deceased drove into the venue for a ‘check,’ with a lady sitting behind him on the bike.

“About two other bikers were in that convoy. Two minutes later, he drove out from the venue. At about 6:30 PM, when organizers came to pick me up at the hotel to the venue of the event, on our way, I saw this accident scene, and I am like, WHAT THEN IS LIFE?”
