President Buhari Appoints Mrs Okadigbo Chairman of NNPC

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Senator Margaret Chuba Okadigbo (South East), Chairman of the Board and Management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.

The President further appointded Mele Kolo Kyari, Chief Executive Officer, and Umar I. Ajiya, Chief Financial Officer.

According to a state house press release made available to News.Band, Mr Buhari made the appointment in accordance with the power vested in him under Section 59(2) of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021.

Other Board Members are; Dr Tajudeen Umar (North East), Mrs Lami O. Ahmed (North Central), Mallam Mohammed Lawal (North West), Engr. Henry Obih (South East), Barrister Constance Harry Marshal (South South), and Chief Pius Akinyelure(South West).

The appointments take effect from the date of the incorporation of the NNPC Limited.

Senator Margery Chuba-Okadigbo Esq is the wife of late Senator Chuba Wilberforce Okadigbo.

Margery’s husband, Chuba, was first elected to the Senate in 1999 and became the Senate President the same year following the impeachment of Evans Enwerem, who lasted only a few months in office, in November 1999.

She made history as the first woman to sit in the Senate as her husband. Margery was a member of the seventh National Assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

Mrs. Margery Okadigbo represented the people of Anambra North Senatorial zone in the upper legislature from 2013-2015.
