President Buhari Mourns Late John Paul Usman
President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the death of John Paul Usman, a 2016 Mandela Washington Fellow from Nigeria.
Mr. Usman died following a tragic accident during a hike on Saturday, June 25, 2016, in Pembroke, Virginia.
He was studying Civic Leadership through the 2016 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders.
As described by his colleagues on the Mandela Washington Fellowship, 23-year old Usman “was passionate about education, peace building, children’s rights, and amplifying youth voices in sustainable development in Nigeria.”
The President hopes that Usman’s shining examples in life will inspire upcoming Nigerians on the virtues of community service.
May God grant his family, friends and fellow countrymen the fortitude to bear this loss.
