President Tinubu makes fresh appointment

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mrs. Omotenioye Majekodunmi as the new Director-General of the National Council on Climate Change, succeeding Dr. Nkiruka Madueke.
Majekodunmi is an environmental lawyer and expert in climate finance with over 17 years of experience.
She previously served as the Council’s Financial Adviser before her appointment.
The appointment aligns with Tinubu’s climate policy objectives, and the administration’s commitment to tackling climate change as a driver of sustainable economic growth, national security, and social inclusion.
Tinubu expressed gratitude to Madueke for her dedicated service and laying the foundation for the Council’s growth.
Madueke became the Council’s first DG in June 2024.
The Council, created under the Climate Change Act of 2021, coordinates climate initiatives, enforces national strategies, manages the carbon budget, and mobilizes green financing.
As the new DG, Majekodunmi will lead the Council in addressing climate change challenges and promoting sustainable development in Nigeria.
