Putin Unveils Oreshnik Missile Amid US-Russia Tensions

Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared that Russia now deploys the first mass-produced Oreshnik hypersonic missile system.

He made this announcement on Friday, August 1, while addressing Russia’s military progress in Ukraine.

Previously, Russia tested the Oreshnik in November.

During the strike, the missile hit a Ukrainian military factory.

Though many analysts believe the system can carry nuclear warheads, Putin insisted that even its conventional version causes destruction equal to a small nuclear blast.

After that test, Putin ordered immediate serial production.

Now, Russian forces already hold the Oreshnik on the battlefield. Because of this, Russia now possesses a new high-speed weapon with devastating force.

In addition, Putin shared another update. He said that Belarus may soon receive the Oreshnik as well.

Currently, experts from both countries are working together. They’re preparing sites for the missile’s future deployment.

According to Putin, they expect to finalize that plan before the year ends.

Meanwhile, Russia continues to advance along the conflict’s front lines.

Putin highlighted recent gains in Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye, and Kherson. Furthermore, he emphasized progress in border areas.

He praised Russian troops, describing them as heroic and highly determined.

Recently, Russian forces took control of Chasov Yar. That town had served as a major Ukrainian stronghold.

However, Putin explained that Russia isn’t grabbing foreign land.

Instead, he claimed that Russian forces are reclaiming what rightfully belongs to them.

Despite the military gains, Putin again called for peace talks.

He noted that negotiations always matter, especially when both sides seek peace sincerely. He urged international leaders to support realistic dialogue.

Just last month, Russia and Ukraine held their third round of direct negotiations in Istanbul.

Although the talks only lasted 40 minutes, they ended with a mutual agreement.

Both sides agreed to exchange prisoners and return the remains of fallen soldiers and civilians.

Moreover, Russia suggested forming three online groups to speed up talks on military, humanitarian, and political matters.

Clearly, with the Oreshnik now in action, Russia’s military approach has entered a new phase.

And since this missile system carries extreme power and range, many global leaders are watching closely.
