Chairman of Police Service Commission (PSC), retired Inspector General of Police, Dr. Solomon Arase

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission and co-Chairman of the Governing Council of the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, Dr. Solomon Arase, a retired Inspector General of Police, visited the Academy today, Tuesday, November 14th 2023, and gave what was considered as a mild rebuke to the management of the Academy.

Reports of his visit was provided by the Head of Police Service Commission Press and Public Relations Unit, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, in a press release.

Mr. Ani noted that the PSC chairman during the visit, directed that candidates must be given a level playing field while their concerns are addressed.

The Academy, it could be noted, is currently Screening candidates for the 2023 admission.

Ani stated: “Dr. Arase while addressing the management of the Academy directed that there must be a level playing field for all candidates and that concerns raised by candidates must be addressed in the interest of fairness and justice.”

Arase said the admission processes must be collaborative of all the agencies that make up the Police Recruitment Board.

The Board is headed by the Police Service Commission and has Members from the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Police Affairs, Federal Character Commission and Police Colleges.

The PSC Chairman noted that scores for the different stages of the assessment must be in tune with best practices and requirements of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

He said in places where there were glitches in the computer-based tests, it should be addressed so as not to deny some candidates the opportunity of a level playing field.
