The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Wednesday, berated President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the fresh increase in price of Premium Motor Spirit also known as petrol.
The labour movement demanded immediate reversal of the fuel price, warning it is illogical that a private firm is the one setting the prices of the products given its significant impact on citizens’ living standards.
Comrade Joe Ajaero, president of the NLC stressed that the price hike compounded the economic hardship for Nigerians, many of whom are already grabbling under inflation and rising costs of essential goods and services.
Also, the NLC expressed concerns about the lack of government consultation with organized labour before implementing the fuel price hike.
The union immediately urged the government to engage in dialogue with stakeholders to alleviate the financial burden on citizens and maintain economic stability.
The labour movement continues to rally support from various sectors, warning of potential actions if their demands for price reversal are not met promptly.
