International music superstar and fashion icon Rihanna has once again attracted attention with an unconventional denim outfit, this time combining jeans with a floor-length skirt panel to create what fashion observers are calling a “skean” — a blend of skirt and jean.
Rihanna, the Barbadian singer, businesswoman and global fashion trendsetter, was behind the unusual look. DDM gathered that Rihanna was photographed leaving César restaurant in Paris on August 23, 2026, wearing the striking hybrid denim outfit. Marie Claire reported that the look featured jeans with a long, sidewalk-sweeping skirt panel extending from the waistband and covering one side of the outfit.
The singer kept the rest of her outfit relatively simple, pairing the unusual jeans with a **black zip-up hoodie, a Dior leather bag and Miu Miu snakeskin sneakers**. She also wore sunglasses, allowing the unusual denim to remain the main focus of the outfit.
**Why is the outfit attracting attention?**
The “skean” comes as designers and fashion houses increasingly experiment with traditional denim and combine familiar clothing styles in unexpected ways.
According to Vogue, Rihanna’s Paris appearance forms part of a wider **Fall 2026 fashion movement** that is reimagining conventional jeans through unusual cuts, embellishments and hybrid designs. Designers including Diesel and Stella McCartney have also presented unconventional interpretations of denim.

Agolde, for example, has produced jeans featuring an attached peplum-style denim element, while other brands have developed wrap and skirt-inspired denim designs.
